Where to get a health check in Dumfries & Galloway

Dumfries and Galloway

Within Dumfries and Galloway the Keep Well health check offers you the opportunity to look at your mental health as well as your physical health. Along with being screened for conditions such as heart disease and diabetes you will be asked to fill in a Wellbeing questionnaire. If the questionnaire identifies you as having low wellbeing or mild to moderate anxiety or depression and you are between the age of 45 and 64 you will be offered a health check.

You will be invited to attend a health check by a member of the Keep Well team. The checks take place in a variety of different venues across the area in order for the check to be as convenient as possible for you to attend.

Once the health check is completed, a health care professional will look at all your results, and explain them to you. If they find that any of them are out with the normal range e.g. high cholesterol, we will ask you to make an appointment with your GP for the appropriate treatment.

From your results we will calculate your current risk of developing cardio vascular disease in later life. If you are at high risk we will offer you our health coaching service. The good news is that they can help you to reduce the risk.

What is Health Coaching?
